Latest NewsCancerbackup Jersey's Partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support Cancerbackup Jersey is delighted to announce, with the unanimous agreement of the Committee, that after careful discussion and deliberation and, formal agreements between the two parties, Cancerbackup Jersey has entered into a partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support (one of the largest Cancer Charities in the UK) and the new partnership will be dual branded for a period of 2 years. The structure of the charity has been changed in so far as they have set up a company, limited by guarantee. The company is called Macmillan Cancer Support (Jersey) Limited but will be known as Macmillan Cancer Support (Jersey) or Macmillan Jersey. It can also be referred to as Macmillan Cancer Support (Jersey) Limited (formerly Cancerbackup Jersey). Macmillan Cancer Support (Jersey) will continue to operate from Cancerbackup Jersey's drop in Centre at the Lido de France, where the staff offer Information, Understanding and Support on all aspects of cancer, not only to patients, but also families, friends and colleagues.. The partnership which is a significant milestone in the history of the charity in Jersey will ensure that everyone in Jersey who is affected by cancer will get faster and enhanced access to high-quality information at every stage of their cancer journey. The service will continue to operate in exactly the same way in which it has operated within the island for the past 22 years, offering free and confidential information, support and practical advice to people affected by cancer, their families and friends. It also offers a Counselling service and a Prostate Cancer Support Group and will continue to distribute the cancer information booklets free of charge to the Oncology Department and the Breast Cancer Clinic as well as to individuals, upon request. Macmillan Cancer Support Jersey's Information Service: HOME VISITING SCHEMEThis free, confidential service, offers information, support and practical advice to people affected by cancer and to their families and carers. If you are unable to visit the Drop-In Cancer Information Centre, the Macmillan Jersey Cancer Information Nurse Specialist, Tracey Fallon, may be able to offer you a home visit. Prostate Cancer CD Hamish Marett-Crosby recently produced a CD entitled " Everyman's Journey" - A personal reaction to a diagnosis of prostate cancer, with the aim of raising awareness of prostate cancer. The social networking website www.whatnow.org.uk is attracting new members every day and provides all those affected by cancer with a new opportunity to share their stories, discuss issues, swap information and tips, and link up online with others in a similar situation. You can create your own profile page with pictures, videos, a personalised blog and more. You could find people with similar experiences to your own, discuss how you are coping with the different aspects of living with cancer, and keep up with how your new online friends are getting on.
